Hi, I'm Ginger — a high school science teacher, biology degree holder, and the person behind every culture, every shipment, and every care guide at The Bioactive Lab. What started as a deep love for bioactive setups has grown into a small but dedicated operation with something for everyone: from families just discovering the magic of bioactive terrariums, to educators looking for living science tools, to collectors who just think certain isopods are really, really cool (because they are).

I teach high school science and hold a degree in biology — so when I say I understand how these animals work, I mean it at a cellular level. That background shapes everything about how I raise my cultures, how I talk about animal care, and how I design my educational kits. I want every customer to walk away not just with healthy animals, but with a real understanding of what makes a bioactive system thrive.

My Bioactive Cleanup Crew Stock

Every isopod and springtail culture I sell for bioactive purposes is raised in-house, in conditions designed to mimic their natural environment. That means species-appropriate substrates, healthy culture densities, regular monitoring, and completely pesticide-free environments. I only pull from colonies that are actively reproducing and in peak condition — so your cleanup crew arrives ready to work.

Specialty Isopods (Just Because They're Cool)

Not everything I sell is strictly for bioactive. I also keep a selection of specialty isopod species that I offer simply because they're fascinating animals worth keeping. Some of these can absolutely pull double duty as bioactive cleanup crew — as long as your reptile or amphibian roommate won't snack on them — but honestly, some of them are just here because they're beautiful, unusual, and deserve a good home with someone who appreciates them.

Shipping Live Animals Responsibly

Shipping live invertebrates is something I take seriously. I pack every order with the animal's survival in mind — appropriate insulation, heat or cool packs when conditions call for it, and enough substrate to keep cultures stable in transit. I ship on a schedule that avoids weekend delays, and I'm always upfront about weather holds when temperatures could put animals at risk.
